Endoscopic Reproductive Surgeon, IVF Assisted Reproduction Unit MITERA
Stefanos Chandakas was born in Athens in 1972, originating from Syros. He is an obstetrician-gynecologist, endoscopic reproductive surgeon, a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Athens, where he received the grade of “Excellent” for his doctoral thesis. He holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of London, Imperial College London, with major distinctions in Entrepreneurship. (European Business Entrepreneurship Award 2003).
He trained in England and the United States in obstetrics, gynecology and laparoscopic/robotic surgery and was one of the youngest gynecology registrars in the UK National Health Service (NHS)
He has significant administrative experience, having served in important positions in private sector hospitals for the last 12 years, while he has successfully established gynecological centers and extracorporeal units in Greece and abroad.
He is also a member of the scientific advisory board of ORAMAVR, a California-based 3D medical education software developer.
He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mitera Hospital, Hygeia Group of the Hellenic Healthcare Group.
In the past he was a sailing champion, a member of the National Team for 11 years and participated in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, while currently he serves the sport as a member of the Marketing Committee of the Hellenic Olympic
Committee and in the past as a member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Union of Olympic Athletes.
In the last 14 years he has developed a strong charitable activity, initially by participating in the Aegean Team and providing medical and supportive assistance to the Aegean islands, and then by founding in 2015 the HOPEgenesis NGO, whose aim is to reverse the climate of low birth-rate in Greece, which was awarded in 2018 by the European Union as the best NGO in Greece.
